Conditioning and modernisation work started at Bullenbaai and Emmastad as part of the agreement between RDK and Oryx Midstream

A delegation from Oryx Midstream, led by its director, Mr. Ghanim Saad Al-Kuwari, has visited the Bullenbaai facilities to check the progress.

Willemstad, Curaçao, 16 September 2024 - Preparatory works at the Bullenbaai and Emmastad facilities in Curaçao continue to progress. This was verified by the Oryx Midstream delegation, led by its director, Mr. Ghanim Saad Al-Kuwari, during their recent visit to the Bullenbaai operational centre, last Saturday September 14th.

Hosted by the RDK team, Mr. Ghanim and his delegation listened attentively to explanations about the facilities, including the condition and capacity of the storage tanks, the maintenance required and the state of the six jetties.

Mr. Ghanim raised several key questions, focusing on environmental issues such as the possibility of reducing or eliminating emissions from the machinery. He also enquired about safety issues, such as the frequency of accidents, being informed that they were extremely rare.

The work currently underway is part of the lease agreement signed on July 1st between the Korsou Refinery, owned by the government, and Oryx Midstream.

Once 100% operational, the Bullenbaai terminal together with the Emmastad facility will provide an ideal infrastructure for the storage, blending and distribution of crude oil, providing strong support to regional and international supply chains.

We rely on local competences to restart the facilities. Our goal is to support the local team and create a safe environment that is responsible and technologically empowered, to ensure the highest standards of safety and efficiency at all levels”, Mr. Ghanim said.
